You convince your friend to join you in the gym. Knowing that food provides fuel, you suggest
your friend eat a snack beforehand.
Prior to your gym session your friend eats a Cookies and Cream Clif Energy bar, but complains
that they feel hungry and lightheaded soon into the activity.

Now, with your understanding of the glycemic index and the website linked below, explain to
your friend (in 2-3 paragraphs) why the candy bar might make them hungry soon after eating,
and suggest a few alternative foods that would provide more sustained energy. Be sure to look
up and provide the Glycemic Index of the “Clif bar, Cookies & Cream,” explain what this number
means. Then look up 2-3 other food items that might be a better pre-workout snack, provide
those Glycemic Index numbers, and discuss why they might be better choices.
