Queens University Intake of Calcium & Vitamin D & B12 Discussion
Carefully look over your intake of minerals on your reports. Once you have reviewed your intake of these minerals, select one mineral for which your intake is not appropriate. I recommend choosing a mineral for which you can write the most detailed answer. (Calcium in my case)
Question C: Clearly outline that your current intake of the mineral you chose is inappropriate (compare to an appropriate stand–ard) and justify why it is important to your health that your intake of this mineral should be appropriate. Discuss, in detail, the health benefits of an appropriate intake of this mineral and the potential consequences of an inappropriate intake. The information must be scientifically sound and well referenced (must include journal articles). Please research the mineral you are considering choosing. The table report from the program is meant to show you your 3 days average for each nutrient, you will need to understand the DRIs (RDA, AI, EAR, UL) to decide the minerals for which your intake is inappropriate.
Your entire answer for Question C should be written in paragraph form and should not exceed 2 pages (1 inch margins all around, double spaced, 11 point Arial font)
Question D: Provide one clear detailed explanation as to why vegans may be at an increased risk of vitamin D deficiency and one clear detailed explanation as to why vegans may be at an increased risk of vitamin B12 deficiency. Describe one potential severe health consequence of a deficiency for each vitamin D and vitamin B12.
The text book is the only reference needed for question D
Your answers for Question D should be written in paragraph form with 1 inch margins all around, double spaced, 11 point Arial font. Answer should not exceed 1 page.
