CHOOSE THREE OUT OF THESE FOUR QUESTIONS TO ANSWER
- Describe the development of farming and pastoralism in Egypt and greater North Africa prior to Naqada I. What kinds of domesticated resources were used at different times and in different places? What kinds of archaeological sites have archaeologists found?
- Compare and contrast mortuary practices in the Badarian, Naqada I and Naqada II periods. How do the practices in each period reflect society at that time?
- Describe the unification of Ancient Egypt that took place over the course of Naqada II and Naqada III. What continuities and transformations occurred in symbols, economic and political practices during these periods?
- Compare and contrast the different pyramid complexes and royal monuments built during the Old Kingdom. How do these represent the changing legitimizations of kingly power? How do they reflect changes in the nature of Egyptian society?
