Barnard College Difference and Similarities in Cinderella Films Writing Discussion
Essay questions. Write a well-constructed response. . Be sure to have a clear introduction, and thesis statement. Make clear right away which tales you are discussing in your essay. Defend your argument by using specific examples or quotes from at least three different tales you have named to support your argument, and write a conclusion. Treat only the tales we have read in the second half of the semester or those on the posted list. Remember, your conclusion ideally adds new insight or a twist you have not yet mentioned in the essay. Mention at least three tales in your essay. The length is up to you, but be as concise as possible. 25 points. Choose one of the essay prompts below.
- ESSAY: Discuss the essential elements and range of Cinderella type tales we have considered in our discussion, explaining their similarities and differences. Give specific examples from the stories.
- ESSAY. Discuss the French fairytale “Beauty and the Beast” and compare it to at least two other tales we have read in the second half of the semester. How does the French fairytale differ from those by the brothers Grimm? How is it similar? Be specific and name the tales you are addressing.
- ESSAY. Discuss the essential elements of Little Red Riding Hood-type tales, explaining their similarities and differences. In particular, discuss the fate of the female protagonist (LRRH). Give examples from both old and modern works we have read.
