Public health nurse has different department where they are needed, including non-governmental and governmental agencies, community health center, and various organization. The area that inters me to the community health centers, this will give me direct access to the public in providing direct care, education that will influence their health and welfare. The public health nurse focuses on community education on disease prevention, improve healthy living and injury reductions. This will provide the opportunity to have effect on greater population at a time, monitor their health especially on the underserved communities (“Explore Health Careers.org, n.d.).

There are many areas that underserved, will need help, they are limited quality health centers, poor road for transportation, unavailability of services, inadequate medications, and equipment to provide care and cost of care. There is also language barriers, cultural beliefs l and low literacy level. The marginalized face challenging health issues (Eide, A. et al., 2015).

The nursing role in healthcare is advancing and need for health care are also on the rise. Added healthcare insurance has increased the number of people with health insurance demanding need to have adequate number of providers to provide adequate care in the underserved communities. The nurses should be allowed to work to the level of their education as many advanced nurse providers work in underserved areas.
