Website Evaluation questions
- Choose a web site related to your field of study. For example, if you are a Psychology major, you might choose something like the American Psychological Association. (Links to an external site.) If you are an Accounting major, you might choose something like The American Institute of CPAs.
- Respond to the following questions:
- What is the URL of the web site you choose to evaluate?
- Why did you choose this web site?
- What is the purpose of the web site?
- What type of domain does it come from?
(educational, nonprofit, commercial, government, etc.) - Who published the web site?
- Are biases clearly stated? How do you know?
- Is the site current enough? How do you know?
- Who authored the pages and what are their credentials on this subject? (education, job title, etc). If there is more than one author, give the name and credentials of one of the authors.
- Are sources documented with footnotes or links and are there links to other resources on the topic?
- Would you recommend this web site to others? Why or why not?
